Which level is right for me?

If you already have some knowledge of German but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before enrolling.

The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions.

Please note the deadlines!

Placement test for the intensive courses (from March, 2026):

26th January, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until 3rd March, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Placement test for the semester courses (from April, 2026):

9th March, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until 14th April, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Note: If you have no knowledge of German, you do not need a placement test and can register directly for level A1.1.
