Anniversary edition: 10th Belgium Day focussing on the circular economy

Location: Building Y / Gymnasium Theodorianum

For a decade now, the Belgium Centre (BELZ) at Paderborn University has stood for lively interdisciplinary exchange. This year's Belgium Day, hosted by the BELZ together with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on Wednesday, 10 June, makes this commitment visible. It is dedicated to the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy from a Belgian-German perspective. Anyone interested can register free of charge by sending an email to belz25@mail.uni-paderborn.de. The full programme can be found on the event page.

How can cooperation across geographical borders contribute to economic and ecological sustainability? Experts from science, politics and business will be discussing practical ideas from 9.30 a.m. in Building Y of the university. A raffle will offer Belgian specialities, comics and much more. The proceeds will go to Lebenshilfe Paderborn. The panel discussion will continue in the afternoon from 1.45 pm with pupils at the Theodorianum. They will also present their analogue and digital museum cases from the "Benelux goes to school" project from 3.15 pm. The closing ceremony at 6 p.m. in the historic town hall will be held under the motto "Diversity makes you strong". A variety of speeches and musical interludes will focus on the partnership between Belgium and Germany.

A reading with Stefan Hertmans will take place on Tuesday, 9 June as a prelude to Belgium Day. From 6.15 pm, the Belgian author will present his new novel "Dius" in the Deelenhaus (Kr?merstra?e 8-10). This is about an unusual friendship between an art student and his lecturer.
