In recent years, the topic of the postdoc phase has increasingly become the focus of university policy, support for early career researchers, and personnel development. The Germany-wide "UniWiND Postdoc Support Network Meeting" will take place at Paderborn University on 12 and 13 March to promote the exchange of information on framework conditions, support and sponsorships as well as coaching and career opportunities. Interested parties can register for the free event until 30 January and can find further information on the event page.
From the programme
Participants can look forward to keynote speeches on both days of the event. The topics are diverse: from coaching for the next generation of postdocs and W1 professors to overcoming internal barriers and common challenges in self-determined career planning to the results of a retention study on postdoctoral researchers, junior professors and junior research group leaders. In addition, "roundtables" offer the opportunity for intensive and collegial exchange on various topics relating to career support and counselling for advanced postdocs.
About UniWiND
The University Association for the Qualification of Early Career Researchers in Germany (UniWiND), of which Paderborn University is a member with the Jenny Aloni Centre for Early Career Researchers, is a forum for cross-university exchange on opportunities, challenges and reforms in the promotion of early career researchers. UniWiND is the only national organisation in Germany that deals exclusively with issues relating to the support of doctoral students and postdocs. In the "Postdoc Support Network", members exchange information on qualification programmes, career counselling and support, fixed-term contracts in accordance with the German Academic Fixed-Term Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz) and permanent positions in academic mid-level positions, among other things.
