Online Language Tests (OLS) and Language Courses

Erasmus+ aims to support students in developing their language skills. To this end, the European Commission has provided an online tool that allows all participants in the Erasmus+ programme to take voluntary online language tests. The online language support is available to you for three years and offers you the opportunity to improve your language skills with a language course. Access to the language courses includes a variety of interactive and tailor-made activities. You can take language courses in any of the languages available on the OLS platform without being limited to a specific number of languages and learning units.

The online language test is not a selection criterion for funding under the Erasmus+ programme and does not apply to native speakers. The language test is taken after the scholarship recipients have been selected and is intended to document your current language level. It should be taken before the start and after the end of the stay abroad in order to obtain comparable results and, if necessary, to record the progress made by the funded participants in language acquisition. The systematic, Europe-wide review of the development of individual language skills enables an evaluation of the effectiveness of Erasmus+.

A quick guide to using the Online Language Support feature on the EU Academy platform can be found in the application workflow in Mobility Online. If you encounter any technical difficulties, please contact the European Commission's Help Centre: Help centre (europa.eu). Unfortunately, the International Office is unable to offer any assistance with this, as it is an external programme.
