How to manage collaborative and interdisciplinary writing projects (in English)

Research writing is characterized by personal strategies as well as discipline-specific norms and conventions. Very often, a large part of these strategies and norms remains unspoken and unconscious, even for experienced research writers. When co-authors - sometimes from different disciplines or sub-disciplines - come together to work on a text, these silent personal or disciplinary preferences often become visible and are called into question. This does not always happen smoothly ¨C often the other authors involved are puzzled, confused, uncomprehending: ¡°Is that how you proceed when you conceptualize a text!?¡±, ¡°There's no way we can do it like that; it will never get published!¡±

This workshop on collaborative and interdisciplinary writing projects aims to raise awareness of precisely these moments: How can they be used to uncover and possibly rethink one's own writing practices or those of one¡¯s discipline? What can a team of writers do to use small and large frictions productively for their common text?

In this way, collaboration in academic writing not only leads to innovations in research but also encourages researchers to expand their scope of action as writers and to develop an informed personal stance on issues of academic writing and texts.
